barackobama9.8July 28, 2026As a straight woman there is something resonant yet freeing about mlm media. We are able to enjoy romance and sex involving men but separate from the threat of misogyny. I find myself constantly and warily analyzing power dynamics in romcoms. So when a sociopolically aware and involved mlm work hits pop culture, I (and many other people) find a sort of comfort in it. We will just have to be cognizant of the line between appreciation and fetishization. I cannot speak for the gay male experience but I loved the characters and the plot. It really makes you wonder why it took so long for gay romance to hit mainstream. I’m eagerly awaiting the next season :)
